Opportunities for fellowship at Church of Our Saviour are many and offer something for everyone! Throughout the year, special worship services are followed by receptions, including an Epiphany Celebration, Lenten Soup & Devotions, Post Easter Vigil Reception, Easter Continental Breakfast & Egg Hunt, Pentecost Celebration, Bishop's Reception, Parish Picnic, Annual Meeting Potluck, and Blue Christmas Reception. There are special events like the St. Francis Blessing of the Animals & Dinner held each fall, as well as a potluck Thanksgiving dinner in the Parish Hall. The Kitchen Guild and other ministries host these events, and they are noted in the ACORN and Sunday bulletin announcements.

                     Episcopal Youth weekly program starts up for the season! Dinner, friends, games, fun!

October 2010

October 1: Animal Blessing & Potluck Dinner - 6:00 p.m., Playground/Parish Hall
                Bring your animals for a special blessing by our clergy and then stay to socialize!

October 3: (Every 1st Sunday) Fellowship - 10:10 a.m., Parish Hall

October 4: ECW first Monday luncheon - 11:30 a.m., Timberwood Grill
                   ECW first Monday dinner - 6:00 p.m., location TBA

Coming Up! Fall Camp at Shrine Mont (October 25-28)
Every October the Diocese of Virginia hosts Fall Camp at Shrine Mont. Fall Camp is a camp for adults, featuring activities, music, wine tasting, crafts, fellowship, and an opportunity to enjoy autumn's splendor in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This year the theme is "Discovering Ourselves Anew". There's always a group of parishioners from COOS that attend, and so if you are interested, pick up a registration form in the gathering area of the main church and talk to Linda Broadbent. Here are some other ways to socialize at Church of Our Saviour:

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
The Episcopal Church Women encompasses all the women of the church, providing social, spiritual, and outreach opportunities. Annual fund raisers support various outreach projects, and the proceeds from sales of note cards, ornaments, candles, etc., are distributed to various ministries within the parish, the community, and worldwide. All women who attend Church of Our Saviour are automatically members of the ECW and are invited to participate in any ECW program or activity. The ECW sponsors a weekly Book Group and Bridge Club. These can be found on the ECW bulletin board in the main church, in the monthly ACORN, and Announcements.

On the first Monday of each month, the ECW will be getting together for lunch in a local restaurant for lunch, fun, and fellowship. Everyone is encouraged to attend and to bring a friend. We will discuss future luncheons and activities at this event. Lunch will be selected from the menu at your cost. For those who work during the day, there is a first Monday dinner as well. Men’s Breakfast and Fellowship
Join the men for breakfast and lively discussion about life, theological issues, and what the Bible says to us today. Led by the Rev. David Stoddart, held from 7:00 until 8:00 a.m. on Thursdays in the Parish Hall. Feel free to join in at any time.

Parish Weekend at Shrine Mont
Each summer we gather as as parish at Shrine Mont, in Orkney Springs, to relax and celebrate our life together. Next year's parish weekend will be held on June 24-26, and registration will begin in March. To see photos from this year's Parish Weekend and read more about it, choose here.

Dinner Groups
Parish dinner groups are formed each fall during Rally Sunday. Groups of 6-8 people then meet during the year to share cuisine and fellowship. These groups are quite popular and it's a marvelous way to meet and get to know new people!
