The Bible calls us to give the first, best fruits of our labors as a sacrifice in thanksgiving to God. At Church of Our Saviour, we ask all parishioners to get involved in ministry of some kind or another, and encourage all parishioners to give a proportion of their income to the work of God in the church. Tithing (ten percent) is the biblical standard, but we encourage those who cannot yet give ten percent to move in that direction.
Our goal is to grow a community in Christ and share Christ’s love with the world. As responsible stewards of all that is given to us by God, we encourage each other to be mindful of how we use all our gifts, including our financial resources, to fulfill this mission. Our annual fall stewardship campaign is how we regularly engage in ordinary stewardship. It helps us to plan the coming year’s budget and allows for outreach into our community and the world, operation of our facilities, coverage of salaries and support of parish programs. This important work is done through the pledges of parishioners.
So much of our physical plant is the result of the extraordinary stewardship of parishioners from years long ago. It was through a remarkable gift that our Rock Chapel came into being in 1906. The capital campaigns of past generations live on in our main church, classrooms, and parish house, always giving us reasons to be grateful for these well-planned gifts. They remind us of where we’ve been, how we got to where we are, and to be open to God’s calling in the future.
As Church of Our Saviour has grown in size throughout the years, support from legacy stewardship has provided special programs and funds that continually help us to maintain and grow our resources. These gifts live on beyond their giver and provide future generations with a platform from which to grow in ways not previously possible. The gratitude of so many is continually realized in these gifts.
We, through our gifts of time, talent and treasure, nurture our faith, our spirits and our community. Stewardship is more than about money or time - it is a prayerful way to live for Christ as we share in His abundance. It is one of the ways in which we do God’s work in the world. Supporting our church community covers the routine to the sublime: through our support, we maintain the everyday structure and programs of our church home and plan for our future. At the same time, we grow a community in Christ.
